Central Anatolia Region is one of the geographically and agriculturally important regions of Turkey. Its climate is generally continental and its soil structure is fertile, providing a suitable ground for agricultural activities.

Grain production forms the basis of agriculture in the region. Products such as wheat, barley and corn are grown on large lands, and grain production, especially wheat, is quite common. At the same time, legumes and oil crops also have an important place. The fertile soil of the region allows these plants to grow healthily.

However, limited irrigation facilities in the region make it difficult to grow some agricultural products. Dry agricultural products are generally preferred in areas that cannot meet the irrigation needs. This may limit the diversity of agriculture in some regions.

In recent years, the use of modern technologies in agriculture has increased. While developments in irrigation systems have increased agricultural efficiency, diversity and efficiency in vegetable and fruit production have also increased with the spread of greenhouses and greenhouse-like structures.

It is directly related to the climate and geographical structure of the region. While these features determine the potential and diversity of the region in agricultural production, they also increase the efficiency in agricultural production with the use of modern techniques.

Agricultural Calendar

Agricultural production in the Central Anatolia Region is planned according to the climatic conditions and agricultural calendar of the region. Agriculture in this region is organized according to the seasons.

In the spring months, between March and April, it is time for soil preparation and planting. During these months, grains such as wheat, barley, and lentils are planted. Vegetable production also begins in spring. Planting of vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers and greenhouse work are intensified during this period.

The summer months, June and July, are described as the period of growth and development. During this period, crops are irrigated and cared for. Under the influence of the sun, grains such as wheat and barley begin to ripen. At the same time, summer vegetables begin to be harvested.

Harvest time comes in autumn, in September and October. During this period, the harvest of grains begins and the fields begin to empty. It is also time to plant in autumn. During this period, winter crops are generally planted. Planting of winter grains such as wheat and barley takes place in these months.

Winter is generally a period when fields rest. Soil care, field preparation and planning for the new period are done during this period. In addition, animal husbandry activities also gain importance in this season.

In the Central Anatolia Region, the agricultural calendar is determined following the climatic conditions of the region, and agricultural activities are planned within this cycle. This calendar serves as an important guide to the agricultural production of the region.
